A Special Sesame Street Christmas (2012) – By Jason S. Lockard

There is very little that compares to the amazing ability of those who work at The Jim Henson Company. The Muppet Show, the muppet movies and yes Sesame Street. When I received the special Sesame Street Christmas dvd from Legend Entertainment Alliance in the mail my first thought was "I’m not a kid anymore", but than when I looked on the package and saw all the great singers and actors that were in this special my excitement began to grow.

A Special Sesame Street Christmas is a Sesame Street’s take on A Christmas Carol with you guessed it Oscar the Grouch as cantankerous old scrooge himself. Who else?! This 1978 made-for-TV special features such stars as Anne Murray, Leslie Uggams, Ethel Merman, Dick Smothers, Imogene Coca, Henry Fonda and a albeit brief appearance by a young Michael Jackson.

This special is not the greatest the muppet factory ever churned out, but there is a certain charm in this variety show. That’s something I doubt we will ever see again; the variety show. Filled with fun and music, A Special Sesame Street Christmas is differently one all muppet fans shouldn’t be without.

So I recommend you head over to www.SesameStreetChristmas.com or your local DVD provider and pick up a copy of A Special Sesame Street Christmas and make it a regular part of your holiday season.
