A Spine-Tingling Double Feature (2007) – By Jason S. Lockard

The Hammer horror films of the 50s and 60s used some of the most horrifying imagery for that day, that’s why these films from that era are in such high demand! Films like The Curse of Frankenstein and The Horror of Dracula are just classics! Well, Legend Films has released a 2 Blu-ray set of two great films from that era. ‘The man who could cheat death’ and ‘The Skull‘. Let’s take a brief look at these films.

Our Rating System:

****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

Disk 1: The Man Who Could Cheat Death (1959): Dr. Georges Bonnet (Anton Diffring), a man with an obsession to live forever… all he needs are the glands of some very unwilling donors. This film also stars horror legends Christopher Lee and Hazel Court. ***

Disk 2: The Skull (1965): Dr. Christopher Maitland (Peter Cushing) purchases the infamous skull of the Marquis de Sade, a decision that he was warned against by his good friend – and previous skull owner – Matthew Phillips (Christopher Lee). Will the Ddoctor will live to regret his decision? ***

While these film are in crystal clear high definition blu-rays, the disappointing thing is that there is no bonus features at all! That is the only thing I can find against this release. A trailer, a commentary some thing would have been nice, but two spine-tingling movies on a blu-ray in one collection is still pretty awesome.

If your a fan of spine-tingling cinema as much as I am this is a great one for you! So by all means head over to www.LegendFilms.net or your local Blu-ray provider and get a copy for yourself.
