Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead (2007) - By Brian Morton

Posted on Saturday, September 01 @ Mountain Daylight Time by Duane

The last time Lloyd Kaufman brought us a full on 'Troma' movie was back in 2000 with Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV, well, it's been a long 7 years, but Lloyd is back and in rare form with Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead!

The story here is great, in Tromaville, a fast food franchise (American Chicken Bunker) has moved the burial ground of the ancient Tromahawk tribe. Now, with protesters outside trying to shut it down the chicken has become infected with the spirits of the long dead Native Americans and anyone who eats the chicken is turned into a horrific chicken/Indian zombie! An excellent send up of the zombie genre and biting social commentary on the American fast food industry (and huge corporations in general), Poultrygeist is also one of the most entertaining Troma films I've ever seen!

With the expected Troma humor (read that as low brow), Uncle Lloyd also adds in several musical numbers and the expected graphic horror and scatological humor...in other words, this is a Troma movie to the core! Poultrygeist may be the best movie that Troma has ever put out, from the opening jokes to the final car crash (which reuses footage in true Troma fashion and had the audience cheering), Poultrygeist is pure Troma fun! If you'd like to find out more about Poultrygeist and where you can see this movie for yourself, then head over to the Poultrygeist movie website to find out more. All I can say is that I'm giving Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead four out of four cigars because I can't remember the last time I've enjoyed a Troma movie that much, I've liked them all, but this one goes to a whole new level! So, until next time, when I'll rethink my whole position on the chicken nugget, remember that the best movies are bad movies!
