Last year, I had the chance to see a pretty innovative movie called Road Less Traveled, a vampire movie that's really different. Well, the group that put it together Man On The Run, have brought us a second episode of the adventures of Damien Locke, a vampire who’s very different from the rest.

If you missed episode one, then you can follow the link right at the top of this very page and read my review and follow the link on that page to get it yourself. But, if you don't want to do all that, there's a nice recap at the beginning of Road Less Traveled Episode II: Path Not Taken that will get you all caught up. In this episode, the Phoenix vampires have been forced to move out of their conclave and they find themselves in Oregon. Meanwhile, the government has changed its strategy, they're no longer trying to turn vampires into super-soldiers, they're trying to create their own vampires that they can use to their own ends. Meanwhile, in Oregon, Damien is attempting to lead his people while still contending with his worry about why vampires even exist.

Road Less Traveled is almost what I would describe as 'Anti-Buffy', in the first two episodes, political infighting among the vampires is front and center, while the character of Locke (played by writer/director Joe Holt) is the anchor of the movie, he's also the only vampire who seems to have no agenda...or does he? Road Less Traveled Episode II: Path Not Taken is a great second entry to this pretty cool vampire drama. I call it a drama rather than horror, because, while there are some tense and gory moments, they don't drive the movie, the story really drives this, and I honestly can't wait to see what Mr. Holt does with Episode 3! I'm giving Road Less Traveled Episode II: Path Not Taken three and a half out of four cigars, and it only lost that half a cigar because, despite the 'last time' recap at the top of the film, there are parts of the movie that I found myself rewinding through just to make sure I was keeping up, it's definitely a movie you need to pay attention to, you can't wander in and out or you'll totally lose the plot!
