Film Reviews: Blood for the Muse: The Omega Edition (2007) - By Brian Morton Posted on Saturday, January 03, 2009 @ 19:46:48 Mountain Standard Time by Duane
Lately, movies based on comic books are lavish, big budget affairs, but there are plenty of indie comics out there just waiting for Hollywood to come calling. Well, indie comic book writer turned indie film maker, Terry M. West, decided to make his comic book come to life for himself, an ambitious move and one that seems to have paid off well!
Blood for the Muse is the tale of Josh, a video clerk with a dark secret. It seems that tragedy in his past revealed the Muse Of Tragedy to him, a mythic goddess who appears at the scene of terrible tragedies. Well, since Josh has seen her, he can't stop wanting more and his desire to see the Muse spurs him on to try to create tragedy himself...by killing call girls who he brings to his apartment. But, when Josh's path crosses Sara's, a young college student who Josh can't help but be attracted to, Josh has to make a choice, keep killing for his dark mistress or stay with Sara and true love.
Mr. West has put together a wonderful little film here, dark enough for horror lovers, but not the 'torture porn' that's taken over so much of the indie film industry today. Blood for the Muse is a terrific story, Josh Robinson as Josh is the perfect dead-pan that someone like his character would be, and each girl that Josh lures back to his apartment is more beautiful that the one before, and the all lead to Sara, played by Tina Krause, who will steal your heart as well as Josh's. I'm giving Blood for the Muse three and a half out of four cigars, it's not a perfect movie, it does move a bit slowly in places, but overall this is a top quality indie film! If you enjoy a great serial killer movie, then Blood for the Muse: The Omega Edition is definitely for you! You can find out more about Blood for the Muse: The Omega Edition by heading over to the Pleasant Storm Entertainment web page. So, until next time, when I'll be driving by the old abandoned drive-in, wondering what kind of people still hang out there, remember, just because the budget is low, doesn't make the movie bad!
