Film Reviews: Horno (2009) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Tuesday, September 01, 2009 @ 20:20:41 Mountain Daylight Time by Duane

The last time we saw a movie from Terrence Williams, he was reviving the rape/revenge genre with The Hood Has Eyez, and he did a damn fine job of it. Now, Terrence has moved away from the violent drama, and decided to take a shot at a horror/comedy with Horno.

Horno is, of course, a cross between horror and porno, and it's where the story starts. An up and coming porn director has decided that he could break out of the porn scene by making a 'legit' movie...sort of. Because the porn producer he works for won't let him move completely away from porn, he talks him into a horror movie with porn mixed into it, so the movie is decided and production begins. The problem comes when a porn star that’s going to do a cameo in the movie comes across a new drug, one that just happens to turn anyone who takes it into a zombie! And, since porn actors love the drugs, you know that trouble is on the horizon.

While Horno is a fairly short (clocking in at less than an hour) and funny movie, it's obviously a low budget affair. The effects are alright, for a low budget, the acting is very good and the story is good. It's probably very hard to make a movie about porn, without putting any actual porn in it, but Williams does a pretty good job. Is Horno as good a movie as The Hood Has Eyez? Not really, but it's still a fun movie. Terrence has a good eye and a great sense of humor and story telling. I'd love to see what he could do with a bigger budget. I'm giving Horno two and a half out of four cigars, it's not perfect, in fact, I'd nearly consider it a demo for a movie to come, but it's still fun, the women are hot and the story is great. You can find out more about Terrence Williams and Horno by heading over to the Cinema Threat web site.
