Film Reviews: Zorg and Andy (2009) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Sunday, November 01, 2009 @ 19:50:12 Mountain Standard Time by Duane

When I first saw the DVD of Zorg and Andy in my inbox, I have to admit, I was less than enthusiastic. After all, from the cover, I assumed I was going to get some kind of lame E.T. rip off and wasn't excited at all to watch it. Well, the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover, and I've learned that the same goes for DVDs! Zorg and Andy is one of the most innovative indie comedies I've seen in quite some time.

Here's the story, Andy is a college guy who's kind of a screw up. He's just lost his latest job on campus and is being given his last chance at the college's museum. His first job is cleaning up an idol that's just been brought in from an archeological dig. This is a top priority and Andy has to have it done as soon as he can...but, after meeting Andy, we're pretty sure that something's going to happen...and it does! The idol is lost, and Andy's sent on a mad dash across campus to find out where it is. And, while that might not sound funny, the situations that Andy finds himself in are hysterical! Scott Ganyo's Andy is totally clueless and seemingly unflappable, and funny! Andy's journey is great and, what he finds in the end is both weird and funny!

I'm giving Zorg and Andy three out of four cigars, it's not the perfect movie, but it's quirky and odd and laugh out loud funny...and, in the end, I'm pretty anxious to see if Andy has another adventure in him. You can find out more about Zorg and Andy by heading over to the Zorg and Andy web site.
