I'm always a sucker for an anthology movie and, let's face it, most of us are. After all, if you rent a feature length movie and it's horrible, then you're stuck with it for an hour and a half, if you've got an anthology movie, you've only got a short wait before another story comes on. Well, with Chris LaMartina's new movie, Grave Mistakes, you won't worry about waiting, each short story is a pleasure and the whole movie is a ton of fun!The premise here is that a grave robber is trying to pawn an expensive and rare ring that he's cut from the hand of a corpse to a pawn broker. Well, this particular pawn broker is a bit different, first he recognizes the ring and he's not willing to just buy it, he wants to trade something rare for it, and that's where the different tales come in. Each item that the pawn broker offers to trade has a story behind it and that’s where the stories come in. There's a great story about a writer and a tombstone, one about a kid who needs to stay awake, a story about a haunted photograph and one about the devil's coat of arms! I'd tell you more, but why ruin it?? Each story is different and offers a unique perspective, there are zombies, vampires, ghosts and even a demon or two! But, the real fun here is the interaction between the grave robber and the pawn broker and I'm very interested in seeing if Chris uses the pawn broker character for more movies...and more horrors!
I'm giving Grave Mistakes four out of four cigars, I was never bored and I never wanted any of the stories to end so I could get to the next one and I'm really dying to see what's next! You can find out more for yourself by heading over to the Grave Mistakes MySpace page. So, until next time, when I'll be returning all the stuff I've stolen from the dead, remember that the best movie are bad movies.
