JL - I understand that you have an obscene appetite for horror movies--watching at least one a day. How do you account for your horror fixation?SS - Honestly, I don’t know where it came from, kind of weird. Horror films are the only ones that really entertain me. I like other genres, but I’d watch a horror flick over anything! Really, though, you can’t go wrong with horror. Most horror films have a bit of everything: action, drama, suspense, comedy, nudity, you know, the good stuff!
My fiancé and I argue over what we want to watch, sometimes, because he likes comedy and I horror. So we compromise and watch "Shaun of the Dead" or "Return of the Living Dead," something like that, hehe.
JL - What was it like doing "Tales of the Dead"?
SS - "Tales” was a fun film to do. I’m only in a small segment of the film, but my scene was so funny and interesting. I pretty much play a young lady in love and am willing to be sacrificed by my lover for his creation of something evil. Its funny, to me, anyways! The guys that did the film, MJ and Tim, are just so fun to work with, including the other actors in the film: Rachel Grubb, Landyn Banx and Nikki Kruex, who are some of my close acting friends.
JL - What was it like working with Lloyd Kaufman?
SS - Lloyd is the best! He brings in so much energy and spunk to whatever he does! You don’t even need to give him direction or anything because he just goes with it and you have to go with it, too.
JL - So tell me a little bit about "Ghostbustin' 911"?
SS - “Ghostbustin’ 911” is a diehard fan film. If you’ve seen "Cops" and "Reno 911," it's kind of like that with a twist-- it's Ghostbusters! It's really cool and the guys doing it are just as cool! I’m actually filming a segment in a few weeks for the film and it's going to be so fun. Lets put it this way: You may be seeing Scarlet as a Ghostbuster, how awesome is that?
JL - How about "Camp Kill"?
SS - “Camp Kill” is a feature film that has a wonderful '80s feel to it and is a slasher. I had so much fun filming that, just because I play a character who is really conceited and a major “prep". It's funny! Rachel Grubb and I get to team up together in this film, which was so fun. If you want to know more about the film, it will be out in 2009, so watch it!
JL - Who are some of your horror idols?SS - Well, first and foremost, Elvira, just because she tells it how it is! She’s just so outgoing, fun, evil, beautiful and so on! She’s the shit, need I say more? I also love Freddy, Jason, Vampira, Lily Munster, Pin Head, Chucky and Ash. Trust me, that’s not all of them, but it’s a good chunk!
JL - I understand you used to produce horror films in high school. What was that like?
SS - It was a lot of fun and kept us kids out of trouble! We would do mostly horror films, of course and it was a blast! Oh, we also did talk shows as well, which were just as funny, ha-ha!
JL - What was it like being in the "Resist Evil!" trilogy?
SS - "Resist” was my second time filming out of state and it was a blast! I was able to work with some awesome and talented people! The film will be out in 2009 and I can’t wait! I got to play a punk zombie, so that was interesting. I have a lot of dialogue in the film, so I really enjoyed it!
JL - Who would you like to work with in the next few years?
SS - I would love to work with Lloyd Kaufman, again, but in a bigger project, ike “Toxie 5”! That would be sweet! Other than that, I don’t have any specific people I’d like to work with. I do know that I’m going to be keeping very busy with new projects every month and it’s only going to get better! I just got signed onto my biggest project, yet, with Darkside Films, LLC! I’m really excited about this one, just because it’ll be a bigger-budget film. Plus, it’s a thriller, so keep your eyes peeled for that! We’re filming it in January 2009 and its titled, “Frozen”.
JL - Describe your ideal scream queen.
SS - My ideal scream queen is one who is beautiful inside and out, who can handle anything that is thrown at her and she still gives it her all! She has a dark and mysterious side to her, as well as a sweet and innocent side. When she walks into a room, all heads turn to her because of her beauty, strength and charisma.
Oh, and we can’t forget, she has to have a great scream, hehe!
