Who among us hasn't played the lottery? If you say, not you, then I'm pretty sure that you're a liar, because I don't think I've ever met one person who hasn't dreamed of hitting it big and winning that big payout. Well, a new movie by Eric Hollander, Big Ticket, shows us how we might be better off settling for second, or even third place.Big Ticket is the tale of Herb Moore, a guy who just went to the local convenience store one Sunday afternoon, only to find a scratch-off lottery ticket that was free! So, Herb scratches his ticket and wins $1000, but can't cash it in until the next day. Happy with his win, Herb puts the ticket in his nightstand for safe keeping and heads to bed. The next day, Herb discovers that his ticket isn't scratched at all, and when he does scratch it, he wins $2000! Is it a trick, is he imagining things? Herb decides that one more night will tell, and it does, because the next morning, Herb finds himself the winner of $5000! With this now revealed, Herb goes on a spending spree, confident that each morning his winnings will be larger and larger. So, Herb spends and spends until he finally decides that a million dollars is enough.
What happens when Herb finally decides to let greed go and to cash in his ticket? Well, to tell you would ruin it, you'll just have to head over to The Door Post.com and check it out for yourself. I'm giving Big Ticket four out of four cigars, it's only five minutes long, but it's story telling at it's best and it's got a pretty good ending too. It's a movie you should definitely check out.
