Clouds (2007) - By Brian Morton

Posted on Saturday, March 01 @ Mountain Standard Time by Duane

It's very rarely that I see a short film that actually touches me. After years of dulling my senses with horror movies, sometimes even I believe that a movie can't get through on a human level to me, I'm too jaded by the media, but when one does, it reminds me that there are great things out there for all of us. The movie, Clouds, just did that for me.

Clouds is a short film (about 8 minutes) that's really a story about imagination and what it can do for you, even when you can't do it for yourself. Basically, this is the story of a teenage boy, who tells a friend the story of the time he touched a cloud. While touching, we (the audience) are left feeling that the story is a clouded (pun intended) traumatic memory from his childhood, but, after the end of the movie, I had a different idea...and you might too, but I won't give it away!

Writer/director Will Faulkner has put together a really great little movie here. It's both fanciful and uplifting...and to uplift me, it really takes alot! If you have the chance to check out Clouds, you really show, you can learn a bit more by heading over to the Clouds MySpace page. I'm giving Clouds four out of four cigars, it's a nice, sweet movie in a world that can sometimes punch you in the gut when you least expect it, it's nice to see something like this! So, until next time, when I'll be lying in my backyard looking at the clouds, remember that the best movies are bad movies.
