Leave (2007) - By Brian Morton

Posted on Thursday, May 01 @ Mountain Daylight Time by Duane

We all know someone (or are someone) who's been affected by the war in Iraq. Well, with all the stories that seem to center here, we tend to forget that the brave men and women who head out to fight in this conflict have stories before they ship out. That's the story of a new movie by Frank Mosley called Leave.

Leave follows one young man who's about to ship out for a second tour in Iraq as he makes peace with the people around him before he leaves, just in case. As we follow our hero, he says goodbye to his mother, to his brother and then spends the evening trying to tell his best friend some of the most difficult news of all.

Leave is a fantastic film that really makes you think about the men and women who stand on the front lines for us. The acting in Leave is amazing, feelings are conveyed without any words at all, and it's all the more amazing to me because the entire movie is improvised! I'm giving Leave four out of four cigars, because it's a great movie with a message that too many people still need to hear. You can find out more about Leave by heading to the Backyard Movies MySpace page.
