Lion's Den (2007) - By Brian Morton Posted on Thursday, May 01 @ Mountain Daylight Time by Duane
It's often hard to capture real life on film, a lot of people have tried, but it always feels scripted in some way. But, Frank Mosley has captured a little bit of what it's like to hang with a group of guys in his new short, Lion's Den.
The story here is about a group of guys, who meet at one house on the way to a strip club. Now, when guys get together, the topic always turns to sex...don't ask me why, but trust me ladies, it ALWAYS does! When one friend, who left to hit the bathroom, is accused of masturbating in there, the evening takes a turn from 'ball-busting' to angry.
Sitting through Lion's Den, I really had the feeling that this was a home video of a 'guy’s night out', I actually had flashbacks of nights that I've actually had in my life...aside from the masturbation. And, when you add to all the positives of this movie, that it's totally improvised, it makes this movie really something special. If you're a guy, Lion's Den will make you feel like you're hanging with your bros, if you're not a guy, this will give you a glimpse into what we do when we're alone! You can find out more about Lion's Den by heading over to the Backyard Movies MySpace page. I'm giving it four out of four cigars, because it is so believable! So, until next time, when I'll be gathering my guy friends for a night out, remember that the best movies are bad movies.
