Relationships are tough things, and, despite what most people will tell you, they actually do get easier as you get older. Once you get to know yourself better (which comes with experience) you can deal with others in a more mature fashion. But, that being said, we've all had our share of bad youthful relationships. Those relationships that make you feel like you're done with the opposite sex, that you'll never do that again, and we all know that we all inevitably do...do that again. Well, the new movie by Aaron Coffman, Texas Snow, made me think back to my younger days of romantic involvements.

The story here is about Caroline, a young girl who just got out of a relationship with Lee, and finds that she has an attraction to Jesse, Lee's roommate. Needless to say, this causes a bit of tension all around. Then, when Lee leaves town, suddenly Caroline finds that the attraction toward Jesse isn't quite what she thought it was.

I'll admit right up front, that I'm not a big fan of this kind of movie, all that relationship talk always seems a bit trite to me, but I've seen my fair share of 'chick flicks' that I've enjoyed, so I'm not just bashing here. My first thought was that Julia Misaki Rust, who plays Caroline, probably gets this kind of thing all the time, she's an incredibly attractive girl who (I imagine) has more than a few male suitors! But, the character of Caroline comes off a bit rough to me, she seems to be playing some kind of game with the men in her life, an on-again-off-again game that only confuses us men! Overall, Texas Snow is a beautifully photographed and written movie, the acting is great, it just seemed a bit long to me at 74 minutes, and it seems that this story could have been told a bit more economically. That being said, I'm still giving Texas Snow three out of four cigars, while it's not quite my cup of tea, it does capture a piece of real life that we can all relate to!
