Film Reviews: Blitzkrieg: Escape From Stalag 69 (2008) - By Brian Morton Posted on Monday, June 02, 2008 @ 19:33:00 Mountain Daylight Time by Duane
In the history of exploitation movies, the Nazi torture movie holds a special place, after all, who among us hasn't heard of (if not seen) Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS? Well, a new movie from Keith Crocker, Blitzkrieg: Escape From Stalag 69, is a great homage to this and other movies like it!
The story here is fairly simple, we're taken via flashback to the 'infamous' Stalag 69, where evil Helmut Schultz runs the camp as his personal torture chamber, performing 'experiments' on helpless P.O.W.s. Enter Natasha, a Russian spy who Helmut is hell-bent on breaking for information, no matter what is done to her Natasha won't talk...and they do quite a bit to her! Blitzkrieg is a terrific homage to exploitation movies, this captures the cheesy acting and the very perfunctory storyline, after all, story is second to the fun of watching naked girls being tortured...right? Well, it was in these movies.
My only problem with Blitzkrieg: Escape From Stalag 69 was the running time, at two hours, it felt a bit long, but that didn't take away too much from my enjoyment of the movie. Overall, I'm giving Blitzkrieg: Escape From Stalag 69 three and a half out of four cigars, because it's not the perfect Nazi exploitation movie, but it's damn close! You can find out more by heading over to Blitzkrieg The Movie.com. So, until next time, when I'll be considering shaving my mustache down to the 'Hitler' style, remember that the best movies are bad movies.
