Film Reviews: Across the Line (2007) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Wednesday, October 01, 2008 @ 01:05:00 Mountain Daylight Time by Duane

I can't imagine a more difficult job than being an undercover cop. The pressure of being a normal cop is bad enough, but walking on both sides of that line takes a special kind of man. I speak here from a bit of personal experience, my father was a cop who worked undercover for a while when I was in high school and, I can remember hearing stories about bad things that he helped do, all with the intent of stopping something far worse from happening. So, when the movie, Across the Line, came into my inbox, I have to admit I was more than interested.

Across the Line is a short film about an undercover cop and the decision he has to make. Alex is a cop who's been undercover with drug dealers for a while, and now, when the bust is getting close, he's given an offer. Either keep moving forward and take the bad guys down, or become a bad guy himself and give his family what appears to be a far better life. Will Alex do the right thing for his job or will he sacrifice everything to make his families life better? I can't tell you, so you'll just have to find Across the Line for yourself.

If you like cop dramas, then you'll love Across the Line, if you know or have been around cops, then you'll see that writer/director Marc Powers really has a grasp on the subject, one based in reality. I'm giving Across the Line three and a half out of four cigars, it's not perfect, but its damn close and I really wanted a bit more story...which I don't often say about short films, it really should have been longer! You can find out more about this cool little cop movie by heading over to the Green Monster Films web page. So, until next time, when I'll be working both sides of the movie law, remember that the best movies are bad movies.
