When you say horror, you usually imagine some dude in some kind of mask with some kind of weapon stalking and killing people for whatever the reason. Well, horror can be many different things, some not so bloody and not so gory, but just as scary...maybe even more so. That's the case with Scott Goldberg's new movie, Loss of Hope.

This short isn't what you might imagine as horror, but it's far more powerful. The story is fairly simple, a man, who's the sole survivor of a terrorist attack finds that being alone with one's own thoughts is just as terrifying as anything you can imagine. Loss of Hope is a very simple concept, perfectly executed by Scott and Paul Kratka. Paul plays Paul Sanders, the man who's survived, and it's perfectly performed. The stark imagery combined with the pain that's both audible and visible in Kratka performance combine perfectly to form a heart-wrenching and yet terrifying short that will have you thinking about the end of the world and still keeping in mind the ones that you love, and what you might do without them.

While Loss of Hope isn't traditional horror, it's still horror, and since it's based in reality, I found it all the more frightening. Scott has a lot to say as a filmmaker and this movie just proves that he's just getting started! I'm giving Loss of Hope four out of four cigars, it's both beautiful and terrifying and it's just a damn good short!
