Film Reviews: Contact (2009) - By Brian Morton Posted on Monday, March 01, 2010 @ 23:22:43 Mountain Standard Time by Duane
Jeremiah Kipp has built himself quite a reputation in the horror community, working on films like I SELL THE DEAD, COTTONMOUTH and SATAN HATES YOU, and, after seeing his own work, it's no wonder that other filmmakers seek Jeremiah out to work with! In his latest short film, CONTACT, Jeremiah mixes horror with other themes to create a story that will not only leave you cringing, but will make you think as well.
Contact is the tale of a young girl who, with her boyfriend, decide to partake in some recreational drugs, they're even told by the dealer to 'take this together', which they do, and, at first, everything is fine, but soon, the drugs take full control and our heroine finds herself in a drug fueled nightmare!
But, don't think CONTACT is just your run of the mill anti-drug movie. No, this film takes the very work 'contact' and shows us all of it's meanings, from physical, to metaphorical, to familial, no 'contact' is ignored here, and, in the end, we're not sure if the girl in our story has really left her nightmare, or if she's stuck there forever.
I'm giving CONTACT three out of four cigars, it's a beautiful film, the visuals are amazing and the story is great, but, if you're not in the mindset to be challenged by a film, then you might just pass it by. But, if you don't mind thinking a little, and want something that's both horrific and wonderful, then CONTACT is definitely for you!
