Film Reviews: Stephen Romano Presents Shock Festival (2010) - By Brian Morton Posted on Monday, March 01, 2010 @ 23:33:38 Mountain Standard Time by Duane
If you loved drive in and grindhouse movies as much as I did, then you know that sometimes the best part of the whole experience was the trailers before the movie. Well, Alternative Cinema and Stephen Romano have put together a package that will warm the cockles of your low budget heart with Shock Festival, a collection of trailers (old and new) from B, low budget, exploitation and grindhouse movies. It's amazing!
On this 3 disc set, you'll get so much stuff that your low budget mind will boggle! On the first disc, there's a ton of trailers from movies like King Kong Versus Godzilla, Beyond The Gate, Sadomania and so many other great B movies that it's impossible to list them all here. But that's not all that's on the first disc, there are also trailers that are inspired by these low budget classics from people like Paige Kay Davis, Michael Gingold, Chris LaMartina and Romano himself...each one make you really want to see the 'classic' movie that it's promoting! But, as they say, wait, there's more! On the second disc, there's a selection of great horror movie trailers from films like Autopsy, Don't Look In The Basement and even The Banana Monster! It's a great second disc and I highly recommend it to any movie or horror movie fan! And, as if that's not enough in one package, there's a third disc that contains all those cool radio commercials for these movies! If you weren't alive back then, then you've never heard any commercials this cool, each one promoting that 'most shocking', 'most blood dripping' and 'sexiest' movies ever! And, as if that’s not enough, there are also some very cool music tracks that were inspired by these great movies by Mars! So, when you’re done checking out the cool trailers and radio spots, you can just sit back and enjoy the music…that’s what I’ve been doing!
Whether you've seen these movies or not, Stephen Romano Presents Shock Festival is a great addition to your collection, just think of being able to watch these trailers any time you want...and I can honestly say that I've got the radio commercial disc in my car right now...and I can't get enough of it! You can sate your own drive in thirst for these amazing trailers and spots too, by heading over the to Alternative Cinema web site.
