Film Reviews: 0:22:43 (2010) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Wednesday, September 01, 2010 @ 17:03:57 Mountain Daylight Time by Duane

Indie horrors seem to be a dime a dozen any more, but when one is really well made it stands out from the rest. Well, a new movie by Jerry White and Anthony Thompson, 0:22:43 stands head and shoulders above some of the movies that are out there now...no matter the size of the budget.

The story here is very basic, 4 college kids head out for a weekend of camping and beer, but when they have a car accident, they suddenly find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere. And, as they try to make their way back to some sort of civilization, they begin to discover that maybe this wasn't an accident at all, but some kind of demented plan!

Now, while that might sound like your basic premise for a slasher movie (and it really is), there's much more to this than meets the eye (or review as the case may be). 0:22:43 takes a slasher movie and blends in enough mystery to remind me of the classic 80s slashers, where you don't know who the killer is until the very end, it's basically a murder mystery with gore. Well, 0:22:43 is all that just a bit more, blending elements of classic slasher fare with modern 'shaky cam' elements too. In all, 0:22:43 is a cool little movie that will leave you wanting more!

I'm giving 0:22:43, 4 out of 4 cigars, it not only held my interest until the end, it kept me wondering who was behind this and what exactly was going on. And, while the title seems a bit strange, it all makes sense in the end...while keeping the mystery there.
