Film Reviews: After.Life (2010) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Wednesday, September 01, 2010 @ 17:05:38 Mountain Daylight Time by Duane

What happens after we die, it's one of those questions for the ages. But a new movie by Agnieszke Wojtowicz-Vosloo, After.Life, answers it in a very interesting way.

Christina Ricci plays a woman who seems to be bored with life, she's in a seemingly loveless relationship with her fiancé (played by Justin Long) and thinks that he feels the same (which he doesn't). When he attempts to propose to her, she takes his subterfuge as an attempt to break up with her and storms out. The next thing she knows, she wakes up in a cold, sterile room, only to be informed by a Mr. Deacon, the local mortician (played by Liam Neeson) that she's been in a terrible car accident and she's dead!

How can she still be talking and moving if she's dead? Well, only Mr. Deacon can see and hear her. Now, she can't decide whether or not he's telling the truth, or if Mr. Deacon has some insidious plan up his sleeve!

The real beauty of After.Life is the writing. This story moves between the spiritual to the scientific flawlessly. We're led to believe at times that Mr. Deacon either able to speak to the lost souls of the dead, or that he's a bizarre serial killer who's randomly selected people to kill in his funeral home...which is it? Well, you'll just have to watch After.Life and find out for yourself! After.Life is an amazing movie, it's not filled with gore or action, but it's the best written movie that I've seen this year, the story will have you on the edge of your seat, and, in the end, you'll have to figure out what happened for yourself! I'm giving After.Life 4 out of 4 cigars! You can get a copy of After.Life for yourself (and you really should) by heading to http://www.anchorbayent.com.
