Television Reviews: The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season (3 Disc Special Edition) (2010) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Tuesday, October 04, 2011 @ 01:57:17 Mountain Daylight Time by Duane

Just in time for the new season to begin, Anchor Bay is giving us a special edition of The Walking Dead on DVD and Blu Ray! That's right, starting on October 4th; you can catch up on the first season, before the second season gets under way! But, is it worth it? Well, of course!

If you missed the first season, the story is pretty simple, Sheriff Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma, only to find that the dead have risen and are taking over the world. How it happened isn't important, what's important to Rick is finding his family during this time of crisis, and that's where the story here is different from other zombie genre stories, The Walking Dead is a story about people working together to survive...the zombies are just the crisis that they're trying to survive!

Now, you're probably wondering why a 'special edition', well, this one has some great additions that the first box set didn't. There's a very cool version of the pilot in black and white that brings a new feel to the story, then there's great interviews with Frank Darabont and Greg Nicotero and some other docs that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for the new season...like me.

I'm giving The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season (3 Disc Special Edition) 4 out of 4 cigars, because The Walking Dead is great and anything you add to it just makes it better! Do yourself a favor, head over to http://www.anchorbayent.com right now and get it before Season Two hits screens...you won't be sorry!
