Film Reviews: Chillerama (2011) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Saturday, December 03, 2011 @ 03:19:38 Mountain Standard Time by Duane

If you’re like me and you really miss your misspent youth, spending an inordinate amount of time at the drive in, then you’re going to fall in love with Chillerama from Image Entertainment!

Chillerama takes 4 of today’s best horror directors (Adam Rifkin, Joe Lynch, Tim Sullivan and Adam Green) and let’s them do a movie that might have been shown at the drive in back in the 70s and 80s. Adam Rifkin gives us Wadzilla, the tale of a man who produces a sperm that grows to the size of a house! Tim Sullivan brings us I Was A Teenage Werebear, a coming of age story about a teenager who’s either gay or a werewolf! Adam Green takes taste to it’s border with The Diary Of Anne Frankenstein, a strange mix of Hitler and Frankenstein that will have you laughing throughout. And Joe Lynch gives us Zom-B-Movie, a story of a drive in that’s closing and some strange goo that turns normal people into bizarre, horny zombies!

Each movie is totally different than the last, while maintaining the pure low budget splendor that drive in movies brought us. I’d pick a favorite, but I really can’t each one has it’s own special charm and is well worth watching. If you ever longed for the days of the drive in, then Chillerama captures it, probably better than the bigger budget ‘Grindhouse’ from a few years ago…this is what you went to the drive in for, fun, laughs, some scares and just a plain old good time!

I’m giving Chillerama 4 out of 4 cigars, it’s a great anthology movie that manages to capture the tone of the drive in perfectly! Do yourself a giant favor and head over to http://www.image-entertainment.com, then pull the car into it’s spot, put the speaker in the window, grab some snacks and enjoy the show!
