Film Reviews: Apollo 18 (2011) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Tuesday, January 03, 2012 @ 13:39:13 Mountain Standard Time by Duane

Just when you think that 'found footage' genre might be dying, someone finds a way to breathe a bit of new life into it and keep it limping along for a while longer. A new movie from The Weinstein Company, Apollo 18, takes the found footage genre to the moon!

Everyone knows that the last official Apollo mission to the moon was 17, well, in this movie the Department Of Defense authorizes one more, secret mission to the moon to set up a monitoring system to keep an eye on the Soviets. But, when our mission arrives on the moon, they discover that the Russians are already on the moon...at least they were, because the Cosmonauts are dead, and soon our astronauts are under attack! Is this a Russian trick? Or is there something alive on the moon? I guess you'll just have to grab a copy of Apollo 18 and find out for yourself.

The real beauty of Apollo 18 is that it really does look like film that was recovered from a moon mission, the effects are terrific and the monsters are very believable...and there's a set up for more that will have you wondering how the hell they could do that?!?!

I'm giving Apollo 18 4 out of 4 cigars, it was terribly underrated when it hit theaters, but if you're a sci-fi or space fan, you're going to really enjoy this movie! Blast off now and get a copy for yourself by heading over to http://www.weinsteinco.com.
