Steam punk is the latest and greatest trend…I equate it to the ‘Goth’ scene from a few years back, it’s something that some people get into and don’t, but those that do usually end up living a very odd life indeed. And that’s sort of the theme behind a short from Don Baker and Chris Pollock, John Gray.

John is a very ordinary fellow, he enjoys his life just the way it is. The problem is that his wife, Susie Slumber, wants more. When Susie leaves one day, John discovers that his world is dramatically smaller and sadder without her. What will John do? Well, you’ll just have to check out the short to find out.

John Gray is billed as a ‘steam punk short’, but really steam punk is really a backdrop to a story of love and loss. John enjoys his life the way it is and doesn’t really think about what he has until it’s gone. John Gray is a short that’s really a calling card for a feature that’s impending, and I really can’t wait to see more. Pollock and Baker have put together a calling card that really leaves you wanting more, it looks great, the story and characters are wonderful and I can’t wait to see what’s over that next hill for John.

I’m giving John Gray 3 out of 4 cigars, it’s not perfect and it poses more questions than it answers about itself, but it’s well worth your time and you’ll be waiting for more along with me! Check it out for yourself over at http://www.johngraymovie.com.
