Anime Reviews: Redline (2009) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Tuesday, January 03, 2012 @ 13:56:59 Mountain Standard Time by Duane

If you’re a fan of comic books, then you know who Jack Kirby is. And if you don’t, then you might want to check some of his work out. It’s very avant-garde, very trippy and different. Well, that’s the kind of art that you’ll find in the latest Manga movie from Anchor Bay, Redline.

Redline is a story about racing in the future. There’s several qualifying races all leading up to the big race…the Redline. JP is a hip young driver who’s as reckless as he is cool. Well, after a couple of other racers drop out of the Redline, JP’s status is moved up and he’s in the big race. But the race is being run illegally on Roboworld, so everyone involved is taking their chances. In the end, the race is run and action prevails over all!

Ordinarily I’m not a big fan of Anime, but this movie might have started to change my mind. It’s not a big sprawling epic, it’s a fast paced, interesting to look at sci-fi movie. The art is definitely ‘trippy’ and the story moves quickly, so there’s no time to do much but sit back and enjoy the ride!

I’m giving Redline 3 out of 4 cigars, it’s not for everyone, but if you’re an Anime or comic book fan, then you’ll probably enjoy the ride! Race on over to http://www.anchorbayentertainment.com and get a copy for yourself.
