 When I was a kid Sunday morning TV was filled with quasi-religious shows pretending to be entertainment. The problem was, that they were often actually entertaining and you found yourself drawn into these one-hour quasi-movies because the acting was strong and the stories struck home. The new movie, Infidel has that same feel and the same strengths.
Infidel is the story of a duo of hit men who are waiting for their target in a diner. One takes the day shift, the other nights. The day shift hit man runs into a street preacher who has got it into her head that it’s up to her to bring him to salvation, the problem is that the hit man isn’t interested in religion, but because he’s trapped in this diner all day, he’s bored and is willing to talk with her. The two strike up a very unlikely friendship (sort of) and eventually the hit man looks forward to his daily conversation with the preacher and even begins having second thoughts about the path he has chosen.
Writer/Director Peter O’Keefe has written a very good story here and cast actors who really bring the characters to life. This is a morality tale disguised as a great movie! The cast, headed by Doug Lamoreux as the hit man and Debra M. Stanley as the preacher is terrific, and the story is one of the best. The ending of Infidel is both unforeseen and appropriate, I won’t give it away, but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with the way Mr. O’Keefe settled his story.
Infidel is one a great movie and I really look forward to what’s next for Peter O’Keefe, he’s obviously a talented writer/director and has a great future ahead of him!
