Film Reviews: 29 Reasons To Run (2006) - By Brian Morton Posted on Thursday, November 30, 2006 @ 23:05:00 Mountain Standard Time by Duane
When I say 'road trip movie' you're probably going to think that it's about college kids going on a cross-country binge drinking, debauchery filled adventure. Well, 29 Reasons To Run is a road trip movie with a difference.
This tale of Peter Jonson and Jack Paradise begins like most road movies, Peter is an uptight accountant and Jack is a slacker actor, when Jack gets a letter from Rose, he decides that he needs to get to her. Peter's relationship is on the rocks, so Jack, being the good friend that he is, takes Peter along for the ride, a journey that begins in Los Angeles and winds it way, cross-country to Georgia. Along the way, Peter and Jack become inspired, argue, have their friendship fall apart and put back together again, meet up with old college friends and all the while maintaining a humor that never drops to the level that most of these types of movies go to! This is a guy's movie, but it's not an immature guy's movie, if you follow my meaning. There are no dick jokes, there are no gratuitous topless women, and all the characters are believable.
29 Reasons To Run is the story of two guys who go from being college friends to being just friends. That might not make sense to you, but if will when you see this movie. This is a road trip movie with a real heart, the ending isn't the standard pat moral that we've all come to expect from this kind of movie, it's deeper and better thought through than that. If you'd like to check this out for yourself, head on over to 29 Reasons To Run.com and check it out for yourself, I highly recommend it! So, until next time, when I'll tell you about the road trip I took, well, I went to the theatre, but it's about ten miles away, does that count? Well, until them, remember that the best movies are bad movies.
