Film Reviews: Eve of Understanding (2006) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Friday, December 01, 2006 @ 00:05:00 Mountain Standard Time by Duane

Anyone who reads these reviews will know by now that I'm a huge horror fan and don't have a lot of use for what is normally known as 'chick flicks'. But, being that I'm not a movie snob, when someone asks me to watch their movie, I'll put all my preconceptions aside and give it a fair chance! That being said, I sat down and watched Eve Of Understanding, a movie about a woman's journey of self-discovery, and before you think I was drawn into some bizarre, Lifetime movie of the week, I have to say, this was one of the best movie's I've seen in quite a while!

Eve Of Understanding is the tale of Donna, Donna's mother, Eve, just passed away and has left behind a list of things for her to do, a sort of deathbed request. Donna has to take letters and items to people from her and her mother's past, everyone from her old boyfriend to her religious zealot aunt to her abusive father are paid a cleansing visit. On the way, Donna is forced to face uncomfortable discoveries about herself, her mother and her life. This isn't a movie that easy to encapsulate in one review, it's a movie that really deserves to be seen. The stand out here is Rebecca Lowman as Donna, Donna goes through every emotion there is in this hour and a half, and comes out of the other side as a completely changed person...a better person, ready to face a new life.

Alyson Shelton has put together a movie that, on the surface, might seem to be "just another chick flick", but brings so much depth of character and passion to the story that the hour and a half passed by so quickly that I was sure the movie couldn't be over yet! Eve Of Understanding, again, is one of the best movies I've seen...and I see a lot of movies! To see this great movie for yourself, head over to Eve Of Understanding.com and find out how you can see this movie for yourself, I promise you won't be disappointed. And, until next time, when I'll be going on my own journey, to the fridge for snacks, remember that the best movies are bad movies!
