Most of the time a slasher movie is a slasher movie is a slasher movie, but once in a while one comes along that's different enough that it makes you take notice. That's what I found with Eyes Of The Chameleon.

The movie opens with a boy, locked in a pit, being abused by his uncle, and this isn't your normal abuse, this is the most vile, profane abuse you might imagine. Flash forward about thirty years and there's a killer on the loose. The movie's heart is Ann Teal as Sara, a seemingly normal girl whose friends are being targeted by the killer. Eyes Of The Chameleon turns from your run of the mill slasher/serial killer movie, into an exploration of Sara's descent into madness. And, there's twist at the end that I won't give away...I'll just say that I can't wait for the follow up movie!

Ron Atkins has an eye for the macabre and the realistic that serves him well in Eyes Of The Chameleon, we move from the normal, even mundane day to day life that Sara leads into the mad, the strange and the weird as she slowly loses her grip. There's even a nod to the self-proclaimed King Of All Media, Howard Stern, in a short scene that seems to be comment by Atkins on censorship. All told, Eyes Of The Chameleon is a great horror movie and just a little bit more, if you're looking for something that will scare you and make you think a little, Eyes Of The Chameleon is for you.
