Benefit of the Doubt (1993) – By Jason S. Lockard

I recently received this thriller from Echo Bridge Entertainment! I love thrillers so I was excited! The film follows Frank a man who is released from prison after serving twenty years for the murder of his wife! Now all he wants to is make up for those lost years by getting to know his daughter Karen and his grandson. In the beginning everything seems cool, but strange things begin to happen! Her fiancé is killed in an accident and as things go from bad to worse Karen and her son have to decide whether to give Frank’s intentions the Benefit of the Doubt.

This film wastes a cast of great actors including Donald Sutherland, Amy Irving, Rider Strong, Christopher McDonald and Graham Greene on a less than spectacular story. The film is creepy and not in a good way! The film was shot around the Grand Canyon and with chase scenes in motor boats, but to me these being exciting it just seemed kind of dumb! This film is supposed to be a thriller, but it’s just slow and not thrilling!

The DVD is bare bones it included just the movie and a scene select feature! To me Benefit of the Doubt may not deserve it, but if your a fan of anything Donald Sutherland you may want to check this one out and for only $7 on DVD or $15 on Blu Ray with bonus features it’s cheaper than a night out at the movies!
