When you say horror certain names come to mind; Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. Karloff portrayed many iconic characters during his illustrious career. Giving us many films that still give us nightmare to this day. Now Mill Creek Entertainment has package together six great Karloff films in one awesome collection. Let’s take a look at what is included.

Disc 1:

The Black Room (1935) – Ignoring an ancient prophecy, evil brother Gregor seeks to maintain his feudal power on his his Tyrolean estate by murdering and impersonating his benevolent younger twin. ***

The Man They Could Not Hang (1939) – When Dr. Savaard’s experiment in cryonics is interrupted by the short-sighted authorities, his volunteer dies, and he is condemned to death. He vows vengeance if he can survive his own hanging. ***

The Man With Nine Lives (1940) – A medical researcher visits the deserted home of a pioneer in cryogenic science who disappeared 10 years earlier and finds him frozen in ice but still alive. ***

Disc 2:

Before I Hang (1940) – A physician on death row for a mercy killing is allowed to experiment on a serum using a criminals’ blood, but secretly tests it on himself. He gets a pardon, but finds out he’s become a Jekyll-&-Hyde. ***

The Devil Commands (1941) – A scientist becomes obsessed with the idea of communicating with his dead wife. ***

The Boogie Man Will Get You (1942) – A young divorcee tries to convert a historic house into a hotel despite its oddball inhabitants and dead bodies in the cellar. ***

This 2 disc DVD set presents all of these films in widescreen format. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful these films looked and sounded. The DVD menu is easy to access.

As we are writing this review it is Halloween time and this would make an awesome marathon on Halloween night. Six films for less than fifteen buck is a steal! I highly recomend this release for classic horror film lovers! Head over to and pick up a copy today!
