As our world is being overrun by comic book movies and TV shows. We continue our look back at some early comic book movies from yesteryear. This month we look back at Batman before he was The Dark Knight.
Batman and Robin’s campy adventures debuted on TV to the utter delight of young and old alike. Seasoned veteran actors took the roles of Gotham villains. Cesar Romero played the iconic Joker, Burgess Meredith was The Penguin and even horror legend Vincent Price got into the act playing Egghead. With the success of the TV series came the movie.
The movie follows Gotham four most dangerous villains; Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman as they join forces to hold the world for ransom with a dehydrator (a device that dehydrates people). It’s up to Batman and Robin to stop them, but there is one wrinkle. The villains have kidnapped Bruce Wayne.
Anyone who watched the tv series knows what they are in for, campy fun at it’s best. The colors pop off the screen in this film. The story just transports you to a different carefree time, before all our superhero movies had to be so dark and edgy. Batman the movie is just a fun little film and worth checking out.
So before before Ben Affleck makes his solo debut as Batman. Check out the campy Batman Adam West in Batman the Movie. So until next month this is Jason Lockard reminding you, if you want to see a good movie, check out a classic.
