Rogue Cinema Sleepover Girl - February 2010

Deneen Melody

All About Deneen:

Name: Deneen Melody

Age: 25

Location: Chicago, but I will film anywhere!

Some of my favorite things: Lord of the Rings (and anything by Tolkien), Star Wars, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Graphic Novels, Comic Books, Grindhouse Flicks, Horror, Zombies, Action Films, Quentin Tarantino, Swords, Video Games, the Ocean, Poetry, Ireland, Scotland, France, the Medieval Ages, Renaissance Festivals, Anime, Classical Music, and The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle.

Most people would be surprised to know that I: Cannot ride a bicycle. I think they are terrifying. I mean, ok, I am willing to do all this crazy stunt stuff, but I refuse to ride a bike. No way will you get me on one. A motorcycle? Heck yeah! But a bike? No way. They’re all pointy and metal-ly…like a sword, only not cool. I don’t trust them at all.

Hobbies / special skills: Hobbies – Ballet, modern dance, belly dance, ariel dance, stage combat, going to the shooting range, learning swordplay, singing, playing video games, watching movies, reading comic books, and networking online. Special Skills – Running around in horror films slashing people up while getting nice and bloody…and running around forests pretending to be an Elf from “Lord of the Rings”.

Number of years acting / modeling: While I have a lot under my belt at this point, I’ve only been doing film since 2008. As for modeling, I have been involved in different types of modeling for about 10 years.

Acting / modeling gigs that I'm the most proud of: Honestly, I’m proud of all of the work and opportunities presented to me over the past few years. Some of my latest films, however, have really pushed me to a new level as an actress. For example, Anthony Sumner’s “Pink Snapper” is a film I am extremely proud of. It is a twisted, gory, messed up story and my character, Susan, was an amazing character to play as she has so much development. My latest film, “As Night Falls” by Joe Davison, is another favorite of mine, as my character totally kicks butt! I’m definitely an action sort of girl, so having the chance to play such a strong character (not only physically, but emotionally) is very rewarding. I’m also honored to be a part of the supernatural web series, “Western X”, created by Michael Flores. The cast and crew are simply fantastic and I think it is something everyone involved should be proud of. Apart from acting, I am also very proud to be a model for Comic Book Divas, as well as be a part of Legion Studios as one of their Devil Girls.

What I look for in a potential acting or modeling job: As far as film roles go, I prefer playing strong women. This doesn’t mean my character has to go around beating up on everyone, but I always look for characters that have a good spirit about them…the ones that always come out on top and can handle difficult situations. However, as an actress, I love expanding my skills and going for something deeper, so if I end up playing one type of character too often, I look for something completely different. Also, it is very important to me that I work with a cast and crew that respects each other. I’ve been on sets where the actors have no regard whatsoever to the crew, the people responsible for bringing all the magic to the film, and that is quite depressing.

Bio:
While she is one of the newest Scream Queens, actress Deneen Melody is more than just a horror darling. The youngest of 8 children and a Native Texan, Deneen originally started off as a ballerina, training and performing with various companies in the Houston area. Unfortunately, after many years of dancing, Deneen suffered a foot injury that caused her to step back from the ballet world. However, it wasn't long till she fell in love with the world of film.

Since starting her acting career, Deneen has worked with several professional filmmakers, photographers, and makeup artists in and around Chicago. She also has had several opportunities to travel and work with independent filmmakers across the country. Some of her roles include playing lead characters in Joe Davison’s “As Night Falls”, Anthony Sumner’s “Pink Snapper”, Del Harvey’s “Hitwoman”, Bryan Dressel’s “Dinner For Three”, and portraying Hecate-Freya in “Western X” by Cazador Productions. Apart from acting, Deneen has experience in fight combat and does stunt classes in her spare time. She is also an experienced model and currently models for comics through Comic Book Divas. Deneen will be featured in the new Master's Devils comic book as well, reprising her role as Devlynn Envy from the film.
