Cryptozoic Man #1 (2013) – By Jason S. Lockard

If you’re a fan of AMC TV show Comic Book Men you know last season Walt Flanagan and Bryan Johnson pitched a comic book idea to Dynamite comics and Dynamite decided to run with it! Now we have issue #1 of Cryptozoic Man.

Cryptozoic Man follows Alan Ostman, a father who loses his daughter and is abducted by aliens and turned into a half man, half monster. The world than is infested with more monsters. He is told by a strange man in a pig mask that in order to get his daughter back he must defeat the cryptids of the world, such as Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster and others. So he is off to do just that.

If this seems a little confusing of a premise to you; believe me it was just as confusing reading the comic. The art work is stunning, but even the art work can’t save this story. This 32 page comic release has too many questions and not enough answers for me.

I was really looking forward to this one, but after reading it I can’t imagine wanting to go further into this story! If you like cyptic comics this might be right up your ally. At only $3.99 it is not a bad price to at least give it a try! So head over to to learn more about this release.
