Dark Vessel (2012) – By Brian Morton

Revenge movies have long been my favorite. From Death Wish all the way through The Transporter, if revenge is being dished out, I’m right there with ya brother!! Well, a new movie from Rocky Curby, Dark Vessel, is the first animated revenge movie I’ve ever seen…and I was very impressed.

When a robot is killed in a terribly violent way, he vows revenge against the people who are killing him! After he’s killed, his shadow remains on the wall behind him. Later, when a young man is trying to court his daughter, the same man chains him to the wall and tells him if the boy can clean the shadow from the wall, he can date his love. But, the shadow has a mind of it’s own and that mind is bent on killing the people who killed him….and soon the blood is flowing!

Curby has put together a wildly entertaining animated short, it’s fun, it’s looks great, the story is cool and it leaves you wanting more! I’m giving Dark Vessel 4 out of 4 cigars, it’s not breaking any new ground, but it’s treading the old revenge genre with a reverence that’s palpable!!!
