Diff’rent Strokes Season 1 and 2 (1978-1980) – By Jason S. Lockard

Different Strokes premiered on TV the year I was born so needless to say I didn’t watch this series when it first aired, but I love watching reruns of classic TV and I fell in love with this unique little show. Now thanks to Mill Creek Entertainment we all can relive the first two seasons over and over again.

This series follows two African-American brothers from Harlem who move to Park Avenue to live with a wealthy white widower and his teenage daughter after their mother and his former housekeeper dies leaving them as orphans. This was not your average American family to say the least. This series made us think again about the changing scope of America in the 70s and 80s.

Some of the best episodes in the first two season included; Prep School: Mr. Drummond tries to get Arnold and Willis into an exclusive prep school, But it turns out to be a little too exclusive for everyone’s tastes. The Tutor: Mr. Drummond hires a tutor for Willis and Arnold who does practically everything but teach. The Election: Mr. Drummond puts his convictions on the line to run for city council. The Will: Arnold fears that everyone is leaving him when he stumbles upon Drummond’s will and then uncovers his goldfish has died.

This four disc DVD set includes all 46 season one and two episodes in really good audio and video quality. The DVD menus are easy to access! This is just a really great collection for the whole family to enjoy!
