I just got back from seeing Jason Statham's latest film, CRANK. I checked my brain at the door and thank God for that. Had I went in looking for a respectable movie, I would've been very disappointed.
The plot of this festival of cinematic violence is simple: Statham is a hitman named Chev Chelios and his former employer poisons him with "The Beijing Cocktail," a powerful poison that inhibits his body's production of adrenalin. Rather than kicking the bucket within an hour (as expected by those responsible), Chev proves very resourceful (and very psychotic). To keep death at bay, he uses electric shock, shoots up with andrenaline, slams down energy drinks and caffeine pills, borderline rapes his girlfriend in public (hilarious scene), gets into brawls and car chases, and even cooks his hand in a waffle iron to give his body a quick jolt from ye olde adrenal gland.
This flick contains excessive violence, a bit of nudity, a good portion of humor, and plenty of "what the hell?" moments that will make you shake your head in disbelief. Clearly everyone making the movie didn't take it seriously, and that makes it all the more fun. I had a blast watching CRANK, and I may even see it again soon.
So when anyone else sees this flick, post your views here. I can't be the only person that liked it, and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that hated CRANK. Let's hear your thoughts! _________________ Jordan Garren
