I'm really not sure if this is a 'horror' topic, an exploitation topic or maybe a general movie chatter one - but what the heck, it's all about gore.
So, I've seen my fair share of violent and disturbing stuff in my time. I've made it a point to search the stuff out. I have a decent selection of Italian cannibal films, love the rest of Italy's shocking subgenres and have delved pretty heavy into the Japanese scene which is always pretty violent - but I still feel there's so much I haven't seen mainly because I haven't taken up the balls to search the flicks out. The top 'extreme' flicks I feel I really need to see right now are:
Guinea Pig: Flowers of Flesh and Blood
Guinea Pig: Mermaid in a Manhole
Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom
Nekromantik
Beyond the Limit (Olaf Ittenbach German splatter)
The 'All Night Long' Series
Base Moi
Violent Shit 1-3
And plenty others I can't remember off the top of my head. I just want to see these flicks right now and get it over with just so I can say I've seen them. Some are bound to be dissapointing, some might even be tame or possibly more shocking than I expected, but I feel curiosity finally rapping at my door. If I can ever get my life straight and have some money to spend on cinema again, many of these will be my first buys.
Anyone got anything to add on the subject of these sorts of flicks? Seen everything? Know any obscure titles noone knows about yet? Think I'm a sick jerk? Let's hear it out _________________ Josh Samford

Here's a couple:
Kichiku: Don't bother, it's boring, stupid, and overhyped as a gore film because there's maybe half as much gore as in the story of ricky.
Stacy: Supposed to be a super gory zombie movie but mostly it was just stupid.
Wild Zero: Same thing.
Naked Blood: Supposed to be really gory and disturbing, but mostly just came off as stupid and depressing and the ending was extremely lame. _________________ Duane L. Martin Webmaster - B-Movie Central Editor / Webmaster / Staff Writer - Rogue Cinema

Couldn't disagree more. First of all, it's not supposed to be a goofy gore film like Ricky. It's not even a gore film per se, it's an art-film with some extremely brutal violence in it. That's 'violence' mind you, not just gore. There's a difference. Kichiku has more in common with Last House on the Left, House on the Edge of the Park or any other 'home-invasion'-esque horror flick. Just there's one or maybe two big gore shots in the film. People should see it as a view into ultimate depravity, which there is an audience for () but a gore flick it is not. Though I do think it counts as 'extreme'.

Definitely not meant to be extreme or really all that gory. I'm shocked you wouldn't dig it Duane. It's so damned stupid and fun, perfect cinema if'n you ask me.

Now that is one I need to get my hands on actually. I knew a dude who was selling it for about $6 on ebay a while back, probably should shell out the cash sometime. I actually heard it was pretty disgusting before, and disgusting = interesting _________________ Josh Samford

Hehe, bump.
From my previous list, here's how it stands.
Seen:
Guinea Pig: Flowers of Flesh and Blood - Yep, about as grim and brutal as they'll ever come. A guy carves a chick up for about thirty minutes, not much of a movie sure, but I respect it and have actually seen it twice now after showing it to someone else. Anyway, I endured it, which is more than I thought I would
Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom - Very nasty, grotesque stuff. People eating people, tortured, raped, etc. I was actually surprised, since for an art film you don't really expect too much brutality, but this one lived up to expectations. Crazy stuff, but interesting cinema. Horrible and it makes you feel bad, but interesting
The 'All Night Long' Series - Bought the set, GREAT flicks. I was very happy with them. About as nihlist and bleak as it gets. By the end of the first three films, it brings about the theme that YES, human beings are literally garbage Hard films, but an important and interesting message behind all the madness and exploitation.
Base Moi - Meh, as far as shocking stuff goes... meh It was an okay flick I think, but not really that graphic or shocking. I mean heck, is anyone going to be shocked by a little pentration if they watch enough internet porn? Gimme gore any day of the week
Violent Shit III: Infantry of Doom - Total crap, but fun crap I'm actually now interested in seeing more of Schnaas' other work. Hopefully it's all of such, err, entertaining quality Though Zombie 90 was just... wow, in terms of badness.
Not Seen:
Guinea Pig: Mermaid in a Manhole
Nekromantik
Beyond the Limit (Olaf Ittenbach German splatter)
Violent Shit 1, 2
Still got some ways to go it seems _________________ Josh Samford

Just to note, have now seen Nekromantik and Violent Shit 1 Nekromantik was quite nasty, an interesting bit of art-house sleaze. I'll be checking out the second one shortly enough to see more of Buttergeit's work. VS1 was as bad as expected, but once again, oddly enough I find myself quite interested in Schnaas' work Something has to be wrong with me, people aren't supposed to like crap like this! And I mean that because Schnaas is a horrible filmmaker, not because people shouldn't watch excessively violent movies _________________ Josh Samford
