Dying for a scary time this Halloween Weekend? Then enter, if you dare: SHOCK IT TO ME! REVENGE OF CREATURE FEATURES at San Francisco’s historic Castro Theatre (439 Castro @ Market Sts.), a three-day Classic Horror Movie Festival – with bite, Friday October 27-Sunday October 30. Your hosts for SHOCK IT TO ME! are Mr. Lobo, Doktor Goulfinger and the lovely Ms. Monster – who bring back the Spooktaculars of the "good old days", ala William Castle.
SHOCK IT TO ME!'s line up of 12 fright flicks includes uncut 35mm prints of classic Hammer and AIP titles (and more): THE CREEPING UNKNOWN (1955), THE REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1958), THE VAMPIRE LOVERS (1970), NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968), THE HORROR OF PARTY BEACH (1964), NIGHTMARE IN BLOOD (1976), THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS (1967), THE HOUSE OF USHER (1960), THE COMEDY OF TERRORS (1964), THE ABOMNIABLE DR. PHIBES (1971), CURSE OF THE DEMON (1957) and THE HAUNTING (1960).
Saturday night’s program will spotlight the legendary hosts of KTVU Channel 2’s "Creature Features" Horror Movie show (1971-1984), Bob Wilkins & John Stanley for our tribute to the classic Bay Area show. Also in attendance will be actor Russ Tamblyn (WEST SIDE STORY) who is co-hosting Sunday night’s double feature of CURSE OF THE DEMON and THE HAUNTING – all live and in person at the Castro!
Organized by GODZILLAFEST’s August Ragone, SHOCK IT TO ME! is more than just movies – monsters will run loose, grotesque burlesque dancers will bump in the night, eerie experiments will go awry, mass hypnosis will take control, zombies will rise, frightening prizes will be given away, and Vendors will sell monstrous merchandise. What other strange and weird things will happen at SHOCK IT TO ME! this Halloween Weekend? You’ll have to attend to find out! As Bob Wilkins used to say, "Watch Horror Films – Keep America Strong!"
