Hello everybody, found my way here via the WithoutABox message boards and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Martin and I'm an aspiring filmmaker from Pennsylvania currently promoting a short (One-Day Seminar) on the festival circuit.
I'm not what you would call your typical filmmaker...I am a Windows application developer by trade and have always loved the movies. In 2004 I started getting serious about making my own movies and created a 22 minute mockumentary for my company which went over really well. After that I read several books (Complete Idiots Guide to Screenwriting, Filmmakers Handbook) and started writing the script for One-Day Seminar. After months of planning and only three days of shooting, finished it up in the beginning of this year. Since then I've screened at the Long Island International Film Festival and have a number of submissions still outstanding.
While waiting for responses from my festival submissions, I fell back into my roots and wrote a free Windows application called EZLeaves which allows you to create custom festival laurel leaf images. If you have been accepted to a film festival, I suggest checking it out...and why not, it's free!
Well enough of my rambling. I will do my best to monitor this forum and offer up what experience I have. Thanks! _________________ Martin Binder
