TELEMURDER
A SHORT FILM PRODUCTION

Telemurder is a psychological thriller/horror film with dark comedic elements that pokes fun at, and then reveals the macabre possibility that exists on the edge of everyday life. Set in Chicago, the story centers on the “cut throat” nature of telemarketing.

The film features a cast of colorful character’s most of which work for a telemarketing company called the Arch Group. The Arch group is a company that serves the local fire department in its fund raising efforts. The lead character; Chris Butz is a quirky and socially challenged Arch Group employee. He is a timid figure who works hard at his job, he believes in the cause, but nothing comes easy for him. He is constantly mistreated by both his co-workers and those whom he solicits over the telephone. He shows up everyday and works faithfully despite the fact that the job for him is a living hell. Opposite of Chris Butz is James Simmons; he is everything that Chris is not; good looking, charming and a natural salesman. It all comes easy to James and he delights in tormenting his less fortunate colleague. The remainder of the cast amounts to James Simmons entourage; led by Tom, the boss and office manager. He lets James get away with “murder” because he is the companies top salesman. Marcus and Kate also follow James’ lead faithfully and amuse themselves daily at the expense of poor Chris Butz.

Last but not least is Keith Conner’s, a telemarketer’s worst nightmare. The Arch group employees have had the “grave” misfortune of having to solicit Keith, a hostile character who takes pleasure in psychological and verbal abuse. Not content to simply “hang up” or ask to be "removed" from the calling list, he insists on explicit insults and violent threats; but is his bark worse than his bite? Let’s find out.

Welcome to the phone room; Anxiety, Rejection, Humiliation, Murder; Just another day in the life of a Telemarketer.

The Film Makers: Telemurder was Written and Produced by Dewayne Jefferson with original music by Grammy nominated film composer Carlos Villalobos. The film is set to be released in early June, 2010.

Director: Jim Andre
Cinematographer: Stephanie SeRine
Gaffer: Nathan Gregory, Salil Sundresh
