Hoodwinked Too: Hood Vs. Evil (2010) – By Brian Morton

Ordinarily, I’m a big cartoon guy. Yes, I know, a grown man watching cartoons isn’t exactly the norm, but it’s a great source of mindless entertainment…and who are you to judge, what do you do in your house?!?! Well, accusations aside, I was pretty happy when Hoodwinked Too: Hood Vs. Evil (coming from Anchor Bay on August 16th) arrived in my inbox, and couldn’t wait to sit down…I might have been a bit hasty.

In this sequel to Hoodwinked, Red Riding Hood is part of an organization of evil-fighting grandmas; in fact, her grandma is one of their most revered agents. But, when Grandma is captured, it’s up to Red and the Wolf to find her and get her back. The whole movie is merely a ruse to squeeze in a ton of marginal pop-culture references and un-funny jokes. Oh, the movie has its moments, but there’s really nothing here that would make me want to watch this again.

I’m giving Hoodwinked Too: Hood Vs. Evil 2 out of 4 cigars, if you have kids this is probably going to be a slam dunk win, but if you’re looking for something that will appeal to both you and the kids, then you might look somewhere else…it’s good, but it’s just not that good, it has the feel of a movie that was put together because the first movie made money and we needed to increase our profit margin!
