I Love it From Behind! (1981) – By Duane L. Martin

It’s good to have goals in life. Mimei Mezaki has a goal. She wants to make 100 impressions of the penises of the men she’s had sex with using ink and paper before she gets married to a guy she’s having an arranged marriage with. Oh, and she’s got a friend named Rei who had fallen in love with a guy she thought was a gentleman, but who bound her up and had very harsh S&M sex with her the night before he was to leave on an assignment for a year. Now she’s turned lesbian because she gets hives and becomes extremely disturbed at the thought of having sex with a man, but Mimei has some advice on how she can cure herself of her aversion to men. Rei’s roommate and lover Masumi is a virgin, and has only had sex with Rei. She’s never experienced a man before, and desperately wants to do so, but has very little luck in getting one to make love to her. Each girl has a problem, and how they solve them is the very foundation of the story in this film. I’m not going to go in depth into everything that goes on in this film, because a film supposed to be watched, not read.

This film is another entry in the Nikkatsu Roman Porno collection. Most of the films in this collection of Nikkatsu releases from Synapse’s Impule label, have been more serious in nature. Some however, like this one, and Nympho Diver: G-String Festival, have been more far more light, and at times, even funny. The story in this particular film is rather silly by its very nature, but the characters are more or less likeable and the sex is decent, and again, at times somewhat amusing.

I’ve remarked before about these old Japanese sex films, that the men all have sex like agitated twelve years olds having sex for the first time after getting into their parent’s coke stash. While this film does have some of that, In large part, the sex in this film is better than in most others in the series, and Rei’s difficulties create some of the more amusing scenes in the film as she tries to cure herself. There’s even a marathon sex session at the end of the film, with a surprise ending. I had guessed at what it was before it happened, but it was still pretty funny.

It’s really hard to talk about these films without either giving too much of the story away, or getting bogged down in the sexual adventures of the characters. Suffice it to say, that if you enjoy these types of films, you’ll enjoy this one. It’s probably in the top three of the Nikkatsu films so far, at least in my book.

For special features, this release includes newly translated English subtitles, the original theatrical trailer and liner notes from Japanese film scholar, Jasper Sharp.

If you enjoy these types of films and are looking for something that’s lighter and somewhat fun, add this one to your list. It’s definitely worth checking out.
