Izzy and Moe (1985) – By Jason S. Lockard

Jackie Gleason and Art Carney made one of the greatest TV duos of all time as Ralph Kramdon and Ed Norton in The Honeymooners. In 1985 Gleason and Carney return to TV in a made for TV movie entitled Izzy and Moe and now Timeless Media Group has released this TV movie classic on DVD.

This is the film loosely based on the true adventures of Izzy and Moe. Izzy Einstein (Gleason) and Moe Smith (Carney) are retired vaudeville performers and being out of work in the 1920’s, the two decide to become prohibition enforcement agents. This makes them unpopular with the booze loving population and from fellow agents as well. Instead of using the typical methods the agency employs, the two decide to use some of their theatrical experience to enforce the law of prohibition, including tricks and disguises.

Izzy and Moe is Gleason and Carney last film appearance together and ‘oh How sweet it is!’ The magic they had on The Honeymooners is all over this film. Izzy and Moe is filled with laughs and is a lot of fun. While there is no bonus features on this DVD the film is more than enough to make me happy.

So if love the duo of Gleason and Carney as much as I do this one is an absolute must have for your DVD collection. To find out how to get a copy for yourself visit www.Sonarent.com or your local DVD provider and pick up a copy today.
