Linda (2011) – By Brian Morton

When I first dropped Linda into my DVD player, I was sure that something was wrong! It took me several minutes to realize that the commentary track is actually part of the movie and, once I figured that out, the rest was totally fun!

Despite my confusion, Linda is a pretty interesting short on a couple of different levels. The film you’re watching is the story of an abused spouse, while the commentary is all about the director abusing the films producer. The real point of the film is that everything is about perspective. While spousal abuse is never a ‘funny’ topic, in the right light it can be treated with some irreverence. The film we’re watching in Linda is completely serious, while the commentary is clearly there for comedic value. And, when the movie ends, you’re left with mixed emotions, after all, it’s a serious topic, but it’s dealt with in a very tongue in cheek manner.

I’m giving Linda 4 out of 4 cigars, it’s a fun short and if you have a sense of humor you’ll really enjoy it, if you don’t then just keep moving. You can check Linda out for yourself by heading over to
