Rogue Cinema Sleepover Girl – September 2014
All about Mia:
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Some of my favorite things: I would definitely have to say spending time with my friends and family is something I really enjoy. Adventurous activities, especially outdoors, are always favorites of mine. Just being outside in general even if I’m just reading or writing makes any day 100 times better.
Hobbies / special skills: I love hiking as well as writing and recently I’ve been teaching myself how to play the guitar. I think a special skill of mine would have to be my people skills and ambition. I tend to really fight for what I believe in and when it comes to filmmaking I’m very dedicated and determined.
Number of years acting / modeling: I’ve been making films since my Junior year in high school but I’ve been involved it acting and modeling since I was a little kid.
Favorite genre(s) and or film(s): I love more intense films and if they are kind of out there and original that makes it even better. I especially love films with an out of the ordinary protagonist. Its always refreshing when stories aren’t sugar coated because the vulnerability and raw mortality of a character is so intriguing to me. Coming of age films are also at the top of my list.
Acting / modeling gigs that I’m the most proud of: I’d have to say I’m pretty proud of my first few shorts. I made them during a time where I wasn’t really sure of anything in regards to filmmaking but I learned so much during those productions and was able to realize just how much I enjoyed and wanted to pursue making movies. Also since Running Wild Films took me on I’ve been so proud of the projects I was able to be a part of.
What I look for in a potential acting or modeling job: I definitely look for a challenge or a strong story. I also look for jobs that are involved with passionate individuals in front of and behind the camera. They make the experience more enjoyable and fuel creativity. Projects that are a little outside of the box intrigue me as well. I’m always open to experimentation and love to test original ideas.
Mia Moss was born in the city of Milwaukee, WI in 1996. She spent most of her childhood involved in theatre, modeling, and sports such a soccer, softball, and cross-country. However, after moving to the beautiful state of Arizona she discovered that her true love was making movies. Filled with ambition, she took it upon herself to learn as much as she could about all the aspects of filmmaking. Mia spent much of her upper-classman years dragging cameras and equipment from the school film department to shoot her own shorts and searching out the film community in Phoenix. After various PA positions with different companies, she eventually found Running Wild Films. Co-founder of the company, Travis Mills, played an active role in mentoring Mia as well as opening up doors for her own creative voice through her directorial debut with Running Wild, “Cinders In The Dark”. This past summer, Mia traveled Arizona as crew member on a local feature titled “There and Back”. Recently, she just started her first year of college at Scottsdale Community College to study film production.
