Fans of George Romero will probably be drawn to the latest Anchor Bay release, Staunton Hill, because it's directed by Romero's son, Cameron. But, if you're coming in looking for the next big zombie movie, then you're going to be disappointed! If you sit down and prepare yourself for a great little horror movie, then you'll be very happy!

Staunton Hill takes place in 1969, and follows six young people as they hitchhike to Washington D.C. to participate in a rally. Well, when they hitch a ride with a stranger, whose truck breaks down, they have to find somewhere to spend the night...and manage to hike to a farm and crash in the barn for the night. In the morning, they meet the people who own the farm, the Staunton’s, who on the surface seem like alright, but a bit strange. But, as they stay longer, trying to get their truck to run and wait for the phone to work, things take a very strange and dark turn!

In all honesty, Cameron Romero hasn't broken any new ground here, but he's taken the ground that he's been given and done it proud! The Staunton's are a weird, scary family in keeping with the Sawyers, and, in all honesty, I'd love to see more of them! Staunton Hill owes a great debt to Texas Chainsaw and, if you're a fan of TCM, then you're going to enjoy Staunton Hill, it's scary, it's gory and it's got an ending that will have your skin crawling! I'm giving Staunton Hill three and a half out of four cigars, it's not wildly original, but it is scary, creepy and great!
