Mother’s Day (2012) – By Brian Morton

Women are crazy. At least, that’s what horror movies have taught me! So, when a copy of the new Anchor Bay release, Mother’s Day, dropped into my inbox, I was pretty sure what to expect…boy, was I surprised!

The story here is pretty simple, a group of friends are celebrating one couples purchase of a new home, when, the party is invaded for a trio of bad guys (one of whom is wounded), who’s mother used to own the house. It seems that even the psychos got hit hard by the down turn in the housing marker! Soon, the three are waiting for ‘momma’ to come and tell them what to do, and when she does…it gets BAD! Rebecca De Mornay stars as ‘momma’ and she’s right at home playing a damaged, mentally ill woman…and she chews this scenery like no one else could…and keeps you on the edge of your seat from the time she comes on screen to the final moments of the film! The rest of the cast is great, and the horrors here are kept very real, this is something that could definitely happen! And, when all is said and done, and the dust settles, there’s an ending that will have you screaming at the screen…trust me, I saw it coming and still had chill running down my spine!!

I’m giving Mother’s Day 4 out of 4 cigars, it’s horror at its most basic and that’s all you need when you’ve got a great story and great actors! Grab one for yourself…or for your ‘momma’ by heading over to
