On Parade (2010) – By Brian Morton

Men are strange…and I’m saying that as one, myself! In fact, we’re so strange that sometimes we do things that even we don’t fully understand. That’s why, when we finally find love, we have a hard time believing that someone would actually put up with our weirdness for that long! Well, a new movie from Edgar Muniz, On Parade, examines three different men and the problems they have with relationships.

First there’s Ray, a married man who is trying to keep his wife interested. Then there’s Tess, a single guy who’s having a ton of sex, but really wants something a bit deeper. And finally there’s Manny, a married man who’s bored in his relationship but doesn’t really know what to do about it. The three are close friends and each thinks that the other one is having a great life, and when they get together and talk, each wants to discuss the other’s life…not their own. In the final analysis, it seems that everyone needs to know themselves before they can be happy with someone else.

While On Parade moves a bit slowly, if you stick with it, soon you’ll be rewarded. Muniz enjoys exploring relationships and that takes time, time that’s rewarded in the end. The acting here is very good, the story is great and, overall, you’ll find yourself wondering (along with these guys) what the hell is wrong with them.

I’m giving On Parade 3 out of 4 cigars, it’s not for everyone, but if you have the patience it’s worth the trip…and you might even begin to think about yourself and your relationships! Find out more for yourself by heading over to http://www.onparade.weebly.com.
